This is the horrific moment a knife-wielding ultra-Orthodox Jew 'stabbed six people at Jerusalem gay pride march three weeks after he was released from pr ison for identical attack 10 years ago. The man jumped from the crowd at the annual Gay Pride march yesterday and started stabbing people. Six people were injured but fortunately no one died.  Yishai Shlissel spent 10 years in jail for a similar attack in 2005 when three marchers were wounded. The Chairman of Enugu state PDP chapter Ikeje Asogwa was today invited for interrogation by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations of misappropriation of funds. Sources at the EFCC headquarters say Mr Asogwa, who was an ex MD of the Enugu State Housing Corporation, was invited by the commission to answer questions on missing funds meant for the development of housing units during his tenure with no traces of any house built.

At least 100 militants have been killed in an operation launched a fortnight ago against Boko Haram jihadists holed up in the islands of Lake Chad, the Chadian army said in a statement Friday. “117 terrorists have been killed, two Chadian soldiers died and two others were wounded” in the operation, said army spokesman Colonel Azem Bermendoa Agouna, adding the operation was ongoing. There was no immediate confirmation of the toll by an independent source.

Tragedy struck on Friday morning in the Mechanic Village area of Oke Afa, Isolo, Lagos, when a midnight fire ravaged some shops, burning three sisters to death in the process. Our correspondent learnt that the three sisters of the same family, whose names had yet to be known, were aged 5,7, and 12 years old. It was gathered that their guardian reportedly locked them in a shop before the fire incident. Their corpses were said to have been removed by policemen from the Ejigbo division. Two fire trucks from Isolo and Ikotun branches of the Lagos State Fire Service were seen at the scene to put out the fire. The Director of the service, Dr. Razak Fadipe, who confirmed the incident, said efforts were on to curtail the fire. ADVERTISEMENT Details later.

YENAGOA—A 32-year-old man, Tuesday in Yenagoa, committed suicide after drinking an insecticide, known as Sniper, after he learned that his wife was having an extra-marital affair at Ikolo in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

A female suicide bomber blew herself up Friday at a big market in the northeast Nigerian city of Maiduguri, a vigilante and a witness said. “There had been a suicide attack on Gamboru market this morning. The horrific accident occurred between 6:30am and 7:10am this morning July 31st on the Lagos- Ibadan expressway. It involved multiple vehicles including trailers, tankers and passenger buses. Members of the National Association of Delta State Students, NADESSTU, have threatened to shut down the capital city of Asaba, if their 2013/2014 bursary was not paid in the next two weeks. NADESSTU in a communiqué at the end of its emergency meeting at Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, said that the students were no longer happy with the development, adding that any further delay in the payment of the bursary may lead to students’ unrest in the state.

A Chinese woman was in for a real shock last weekend when she tried to get money out of an ATM. The unsuspecting 23-year-old, known as Xiao Liu, had been entering her PIN code into a cash machine in Xi'an, north west China, when a sudden surge of electricity left her needing hospital treatment. The electric shock sent 200 volts around the woman's body. Humans can only handle 36 volts safely.

A middle-aged woman is currently recuperating in a Lagos hospital, after robbers stormed her rented apartment on the Lagos Island, during which she stabbed one of the assailants to death. It was learnt that the woman, identified simply as Adenike, and her family were attacked on Tuesday at about 2am on Eyin Iga Street. It was gathered that the robbers, who were armed with knives and cutlasses, reportedly gained entrance into the house after damaging the gates.
