President Buhari has warned civil servants to shun corrupt practices or be shown the way out of the civil service. The permanent secretary in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Muhammed Bukar, who spoke with NAN, said President Buhari gave the warning while receiving notes on the activities of the General Services Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

                 Karlyn Serane Ramirez, 24, a female soldier stationed at Fort Mead was shot dead in her home in Maryland this week. She was discovered around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25 by police responding to reports of a stray dog entering the unlocked Severn house, about 15 miles south of Baltimore, Anne Arundel. Her 5 months old daughter was found unharmed next to her and appeared to be in good health but was transported to the hospital as a precaution.   

According to a report by Daily Trust, wanted terrorist, Ahmed Al-Assir, who was arrested in Lebanon on his way to Nigeria, was coming on the invitation of a foreign company operating in the country.  Sources in Nigeria’s security circles, who spoke to Daily Trust on condition of anonymity, said the visa was issued by a Foreign Service official in Beirut based on that invitation.

The police have also offered a Sh2 million reward for information that could lead to the arrest of Faraj who is suspected to be living in a refugee camp in northeastern Kenya. According to a police dispatch, she is responsible for grenade attacks and assassinations in Mombasa.

The Nigerian Army have recalled about 3000 soldiers that were relieved of their jobs because they refused to fight Boko Haram. The soldiers refused fighting the sect because they said they lacked the appropriate weapons to engage the sect members and win the battle. According to Daily Trust, the soldiers are currently being screened at the Jaji military cantonment in Kaduna State.

President Buhari has appointed Tunde Fowler as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). Until his appointment, Mr Fowler was the Chief Executive Officer /Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue from 2005 to 2014. He had his higher education in the United States where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin and a Master of Business Administration degree from the California State University. He will serve as Acting Executive Chairman of FIRS until his appointment is confirmed by the Senate.

A medical robot has successfully transplanted a kidney through the vagina. A sister-to-sister kidney transplant in France reported on Wednesday is the first to combine robotics, vaginal access and the donated organ's immediate implant after removal, according to the surgeons. The procedure at the University Hospital Centre in Toulouse was executed "in a single go, exclusively with robots," the lead surgeon, Frederico Sallustro, told AFP.

A 65-year-old pastor, Olowolade David Laizer, is looking for divorce from his fourth wife, Esther Anuoluwapo Laizer, after 31 years of marriage. Laizer, who has six wives, told a customary court sitting in Ikorodu on Wednesday that the 55-year-old lady does not have respect for the house of God.  The pastor asserted that his wife rains curses on his congregation at the smallest incitement and had denied him marital rights for over a year.
